Blooming Smiles Untethered

Compassionate Lip and Tongue-Tie Care in Charlotte, NC

"She genuinely cares"

We LOVE Dr. Arpita! She released a tongue and lip tie for my daughter at 5 weeks old and did an incredible job. Her follow up and communication is unlike any physician I’ve ever encountered. She went above and beyond to make sure we were both comfortable and doing well post op. She even reached out on the weekend to see how we were doing. She genuinely CARES.

Meet Dr. Arpita Patel

Dr. Arpita is a symptoms-driven provider who recommends releases when alternate or less invasive options (such as Myofunctional therapy) have proven to be an incomplete solution. As a parent who faced tongue-tie challenges herself, Dr. Patel understands how these issues impact everyday life. She warmly welcomes babies, children, and adults who may be experiencing symptoms related to tongue or lip-tie.

What Are Tongue & Lip-Tie Conditions?

Tongue-tie (ankyloglossia) and lip-tie are when the tissue connecting the tongue to the mouth’s floor or the lip to the gums doesn’t fully recede during development. This restricts movement on the tongue and lips, which can develop into difficulty breastfeeding, speaking, chewing, swallowing, and breathing normally. But we’re here to help!

Helping Your Baby Bloom

  • Tongue- and lip-ties are often diagnosed due to trouble breastfeeding, as they can limit your baby's ability to latch. It can also make nursing painful.
  • While tongue- and lip-ties are often discussed in the context of breastfeeding, their impact can go far beyond infancy. Bottle-fed babies may still struggle with feeding, reflux, or gassiness due to inefficient sucking.

Untethered Kids and Adults

  • In older children, tethered oral tissues can contribute to picky eating, speech challenges, mouth breathing, oral decay, restless sleep, and even difficulty staying regulated in the classroom.
  • A tongue or lip tie for adults can lead to significant issues like TMJ, migraines, head and neck pain, as well as sleeping, snoring, and sinus concerns.

Frenectomy Treatment is Easy at Bloom

Our gentle laser frenectomy treatment —when clinically appropriate—can support improvements in eating, speaking, breathing, sleep, and overall quality of life by allowing the tongue and mouth to function more freely and effectively.

Our Treatment Process

At our practice, we only recommend a tongue- or lip-tie release (frenectomy) when we truly believe it can make a positive difference. By staying focused on finding the right solution - not just a procedure - we help families move toward relief in the gentlest, most effective way possible.

We begin with a consultation, during which we will:

  • Listen to your concerns and discuss any functional or medical issues.

  • Perform a gentle, thorough oral exam to assess any restrictions.

  • Work with you to create a tailored treatment plan that feels right for you and your family.
  • We’ll also check for additional issues that might affect movement or function, ensuring comprehensive care.

Caring For You After Treatment

We’ll demonstrate simple stretching exercises to encourage flexibility and support your healing journey. And, don’t worry if the surgical sites turn white or creamy within a day - it’s a normal part of healing, not an infection.

Please submit your paperwork early so we can:

  • Verify insurance details and avoid surprises.

  • Prepare thoughtfully for your visit.

  • Coordinate with your referring provider if needed.
